An Overview of Things to Do

There is plenty for you to see and do while staying at Thornbury.  Here are just a few ideas ....

The swimming pool - we have an indoor heated swimming pool that is free to use and available all year round.  The pool has a selection of ride on inflatables, pool inflatables and balls.  It also has a changing room with a hair dryer, a toilet and electric shower.  The swimming pool can be booked for 90 minutes a day for your own private use. Please note there is no life guard on duty so children must be supervised at all times by a responsible adult.

Tennis Court - The full size tennis court is also free to use and available for to use at any time during the day or early evening.  Please ensure you bring suitable foot wear, rackets and balls.

Visit Local Pub - The local pub in the village, The Crown, is small but very friendly.  Many guests pop in to visit Geoff and his staff during their stay and enjoy a home cooked meal and a real ale.  Children and dogs are welcome.

Beauty Therapy -  It is possible to book Joanna to visit you during your stay at Thornbury.  She provides a full range of beauty treatments including facials, eye treatments, massage, manicure and pedicure, Reflexology, Indian Head Massage, Hopi ear candles and waxing.  Joanna will bring the treatment to you, so there is no need for you to go anywhere.  Joanna can be contacted on 07771 932 093.  Please book as soon as possible as she can get booked up quickly!

Alternatively if you are after a day of pampering, I would recommend Cheltenhams Chapel Spa http://www.chapelspa.co.uk/.  This has been voted the number one day spa in both 2005 and 2006.  It has been revamped inside and is still amazing.  Again book as soon as possible as it is a very popular place.

Days out - There is a rather large folder full of ideas of places to go, things to do and local activities at the property, but here is my top 10:

  1. Cadbury World, all that chocolate and yes you can eat loads!
  2. Burford Wildlife Park, a great family day out and dogs are allowed on leads.
  3. Westonbirt Arboretum, especially in Autumn as the colours are spectacular
  4. Hiring a motorboat and cruising The River Severn, relaxing and peaceful.
  5. Stratford upon Avon, Shakespeare, swans and award winning fish and chip shop!
  6. Walking up Bredon Hill, seeing all the wildlife and the amazing views.
  7. Cheltenham Racecourse, the atmosphere at a race meet is exhilarating
  8. Visiting the villages of the Cotswolds, I particularly like Broadway
  9. Bath, not only a World Heritage city but now features Britains only natural thermal waters, Thermae Bath Spa, oh and the shopping is pretty good as well.
  10. Tamworth Snow Dome,  this is over an hour away but is a fantastic place to ski, snowboard, ride snowmobiles James Bond style, and have a great laugh tobogganing and tubing.
